UCI Gran Fondo
Gran Fondo is the name given to open long-distance cycling races in which amateur cyclists participate. These races, whose name comes from the phrase "Gare di fondo", meaning "distance races", are mostly organized on the same track but at different distance and difficulty levels, depending on the age and level of the participants. “Gran Fondo” meaning “big race” is undoubtedly used for the longest distance course among them. The "Gran Fondo" bicycle races, which have become very popular in Europe for decades, have managed to spread to other continents and attract great attention. Prosecco Cycling Classic, Novi Colli and Felice Gimondi competitions are among the most well-known of the Gran Fondoes, which bring together the masses of cycling as a sports competition, a cultural experience and a social responsibility movement.
